"Towards Inclusion: Healthcare, Education and the LGBT Community"

 

Dates: 13th and 14th October, 2012
Time: 09.00 - 18.00
Location: Home for Cooperation, Buffer Zone, 28 Marcou Dracou Street, Nicosia.

The conference will be opened by the Ambassador of the U.S.A in Cyprus Μr John M. Koenig, the Head of the European Commission in Cyprus, Mr. Georgios Markopouliotis and a representative from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cyprus.

The conference aims to raise awareness and develop capacities of Health Care Professionals, such as doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, as well as Educators of Formal and Non-Formal Education, such as teachers, academics, social scientists and students with regards to the LGBT community in Cyprus in the areas of health care and education.

Participants will be introduced to the problems and sensitivities of the LGBT community, and will be given tools to tackle homophobia and transphobia in their respective working environments. Through formal presentations and interactive workshops guest experts and activists from the USA, the UK, Turkey, Greece and Cyprus will share their knowledge, practices and experiences in working with the LGBT community.

Co-organizer: European Commission Representation in Cyprus.
With the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Cyprus

There will be a simultaneous translation from English to Greek and English to Turkish.

No participation fee.

All participants will receive an attendance certificate.
